Systems and databases for innovation

Synopsis: In this chapter we review the requirements and needs for an idea database. In many instances, innovation teams move too quickly to acquire or build idea management systems, without fully defining the rest of the innovation capability. Note that in our outline, building or buying a database is fairly late in the agenda. That's because an innovation database must support your innovation process - it is the process that matters, and the database supports and enables the teams and processes.
